The stripped-down rendition showcased Gaga's vocal abilities and channeled raw emotion and intensity that perfectly captured the chaotic essence of her cinematic alter ego.

Gaga's performance wasn't just a song; It was a glimpse into the world she created harlequin. After the performance, she told Kimmel: “It was inspired by the movie, by my character Harley and just kind of a reflection on my life as a performer.” It's meant to be a really personal song about how sometimes we go through dark times and feeling like luck is a coincidence when it happens.”

harlequin is not a typical movie soundtrack, but more of a concept record, as Gaga explained during her conversation with Kimmel. “It’s not the soundtrack,” she said. “It’s a concept record and a companion piece to the film. Whether you listen to it before or after the film, it's like an expansion of the world.” This unique approach, combining music and cinema, is typical of Gaga, who is never afraid to push boundaries.

Discussion about their role in Joker: Folie à DeuxGaga opened up about the challenges that come with playing Harley Quinn, particularly how she had to find a different voice for the character's musical moments.

“Harley is not a trained singer,” she said. “So I worked a lot on developing her voice and finding what was natural and raw for her. There's a kind of brokenness in her. She has an inner storm and I wanted it to come from there.”

However, Gaga's conversation with Kimmel wasn't just about the film and album. The pop icon also gave fans a glimpse into her personal life, telling the story of her fiancé Michael Polansky's unexpected marriage proposal.

“He proposed to me right after my birthday,” she revealed, adding that in true Minnesota Nice fashion, Polansky asked for her permission before actually popping the question. “He wanted to know if it was okay to propose before he proposed. And I thought, 'Yeah, it's so okay!'” she laughed.

The couple, who have kept much of their relationship private, may be planning a wedding, but Gaga teased that they have also talked about “just going to a courthouse and ordering Chinese food.”
