Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Cliff Kingsbury needed Taylor Swift to help the team beat the Carolina Panthers this past Sunday. While speaking with reporters on Thursday, Kingsbury revealed that the Commanders scored one of their touchdowns in the Week 7 game on a play called “Taylor Swift.”

The play was a touchdown pass from the quarterback Marcus Mariota to the close end Ben Sinnott. “His first catch was a touchdown, and the play was called 'Taylor Swift,' so you can't really top that to start your career as an NFL scorer,” Kingsbury said, via Yahoo Sports. “He was excited about it.”

Swift is currently dating the Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and has played in multiple games this year and in 2023. Kingsbury said the play was called by the Commanders' tight ends and he thought Sinnott “must like Taylor Swift on a deeper level.”

“That was new this year,” Kliff Kingsbury said. “We wore it for probably three weeks and were finally able to call it in.”

Taylor Swift's impact on the NFL is on another level

Sinnott was selected by the Commanders in the second round of this year's draft after playing college football at Kansas State. The touchdown he scored on Sunday was the first of his career and second reception of the season.

It's clear that Swift has had a huge impact on the NFL. In February, Apex Marketing Group announced that Swift had increased the league's value by $331 million since she and Kelce began dating last year.

“I have cousins who couldn’t name the team in their own city, and now they can name half the starting quarterbacks in the NFL.” The Athletics Nicole Auerbach told CBS at the time. “They’re not just interested. They also went down rabbit holes, because that's part of being obsessed with being a Taylor Swift fan. So I think they carried that over to football.”
