Normal people start bartending as a second or third job; Semi-famous people try out a music career. Enter the pantheon “I think I recognize this name?” Celebrities who attempt to become a pop star include models, socialites and Masked singer Alum Jordyn Woods.

For those not connected to the Kardashian-verse: I'm not; I had to get a colleague to explain this to me – Woods is Kylie Jenner's former best friend, who was stripped of that title after it came to light that Kylie's half-sister Khloé Kardashian's then-boyfriend, Tristan Thompson, had cheated on her with Woods. (Phew!) Woods has been credited on a number of rap tracks like Rick Ross' “NumbNumb Juice,” but now she's officially releasing her own music.

Her debut single, “Be With You,” is a loving R&B slow jam dedicated to her boyfriend, New York Knicks player Karl-Anthony Towns. “You’ve stood by me thick and thin / All I want is your lovin,” Woods sings. She posted a snippet of it in a reel commemorating their four-year anniversary in May; Vince Staples responded, “Drop the album.” As a song, it's not bad, not good, a watered-down version of something Kali Uchis or Victoria Monét would do. But Addison Rae's debut was also mediocre – and look where she is now!
