U.S. Sen. JD Vance, former President Donald Trump's running mate in the Republican presidential nomination, will make another campaign trip to Michigan with less than a month until the Nov. 5 election.

Vance will speak at Detroit's Eastern Market on Tuesday at 2 p.m. The event is open to the public, although those wishing to register for general admission must register on the Trump campaign website.

Detroit remains a Democratic stronghold that is sure to produce votes for the party's nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris, but the Trump campaign has tried to portray itself as a better choice for the auto industry.

“Michigan is proud to be the car capital of the world and is the backbone of Michigan’s economy,” said a press release from the campaign announcing the event. “President Donald J. Trump and Senator Vance have shown time and time again that they are committed to supporting and rebuilding the automotive industry, starting with supporting jobs in American manufacturing.”

Vance last traveled to Michigan on Wednesday for campaign events in Auburn Hills and Wright Township. Trump campaigned in Saginaw on Thursday, and Harris held events in Redford Township and Flint on Friday.

Michigan is one of the few states considered crucial to the outcome of the November 5th election. Opinion polls currently show that the lead in the state is too narrow, with the RealClearPolling average currently giving Harris a lead of 0.7 percentage points.
