Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will face the Chicago Bears in Week 8 in a battle for this year's No. 1 and No. 2 picks, the team announced Sunday.

Daniels, 23, suffered a rib injury in the first quarter of last week's 40-7 win over the Carolina Panthers when two defenders tackled Daniels at the end of a 46-yard run on Washington's opening drive. He wanted to finish the trip but was eventually taken out and did not return. Marcus Mariota replaced Daniels and threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns.

Daniels was listed as questionable on the injury report and did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday, but did participate in part of practice on Friday.

Daniels has hit a historic pace since starting for the Commanders. In his first seven starts, Daniels has thrown for 1,410 yards, six touchdowns, two interceptions and one rushing throw for four touchdowns, making him the fastest rookie with at least 1,000 passing yards and 300 rushing yards. He currently leads the NFL with a completion rate of 75.6 percent.

He will now play against the Chicago Bears and first overall pick Caleb Williams. This is the sixth time in NFL history that quarterbacks selected No. 1 and No. 2 will face each other in their rookie season.
