Warning: Contains SPOILERS for the third season premiere of Fire Country.Season 3, Episode 1 of Tierra del Fuego ends with a cliffhanger in which an explosion occurs at the crash site seconds before the credits roll. Bode and Gabriela spend the premiere tending to an injured pilot in the woods, while Jake tries to save Genevieve and Rick at Smokey's Tavern. The out-of-control helicopter crashed onto the roof, leaving her trapped, injured and at large. Also on site is Eve, who is surprised to learn that Gen may be Rick's biological daughter.

After her rescue, actor Jules Latimer explains that her character feels sorry for Jake and the complicated situation he finds himself in. However, Eve will do what she can to remain neutral and give the best advice possible given the circumstances. Latimer continues to share her excitement about Eve's upcoming storyline and the inclusion of her real-life experiences. She reveals that the new episodes will provide long-awaited answers about the firefighter's past, including why Eve decided to become a first responder.

Latimer shares initial reaction to The Fire Country Season 3 premiere script

“Oh, we’re really coming in with a bang.”

Screen Rant: What were your first thoughts when you read the script for the third season premiere?

Jules Latimer: I thought, “Oh, we're really coming in with a bang.” First of all, I didn't know we were going to do a direct pickup, so that was a little shocking. And then when I saw the helicopter crash, I thought, “You know it's Fire Country because it can't just be a wedding.” We have to be the ones who have to rescue and rescue a lot of people. I was really thrilled and excited.

Season 3 brings a lot of changes. How does the fact that Bode is a free man affect Eva's actions?

Jules Latimer: Actually it's kind of strange because I don't see Max anymore from a production standpoint. Whenever I see him, I think to myself, “Oh, wow. You’re no longer in my camp.” We have a lot to catch up on when we have scenes together. They reassigned a lot of people. The first episode was a bit strange. It was a bit of a reunion because I got to spend time with Sharon, Vince and Gabriela because we're running and trying to save people, but it messed everyone up a little bit.

When we first shot the episode and came back from break, it was just like, “All systems go.” We're just saving people, and I don't think anyone has a chance of knowing what's going on. We are all pulled in many different directions. Eve's at the helicopter crash, then I go to Smokey's, and then I'm at Jake's, and then there's Rick and Genevieve. Everyone is trying to solve so many problems and it was kind of chaotic.

Fire Country Season 3 will reveal more about Eve's backstory

“You get a lot of information about why she chose this career path and why she invested in Three Rock.”

Eve accompanies Jake through the events of 301 and they discover a new side of Rick. Do you think he surprised her at all?

Jules Latimer: When we were growing up, Rick just wasn't a great guy. And then seeing his relationship with Genevieve when they're trapped – I think I really feel for Jake. He's going through so much and this is my best friend and I'm really there to support him. So I don't know. I've had a variety of emotions, and it's really just compassion for everyone around me and getting to know Rick. For me it's just about capturing the emotions of a lot of people and conveying a feeling of support for people.

Jake isn't thrilled about Rick possibly being Gen's father. Now that Eve is involved in everything, what would you say her thoughts are as Jake's best friend?

Jules Latimer: It's such a complicated situation. In the following episodes we both try to understand him as a father figure, which is strange for all of us. I just really feel for my friend. I feel like he's in such a complicated situation. As is the case with any friend who is going through something really difficult, I find it difficult to incorporate my feelings and I just try to remain as neutral as possible and give him the best advice I can.

Season 2 meant a lot to Eve with her work and focus on Three Rock. How do you feel about your character's development in this new episode?

Jules Latimer: I'm super excited because the theme of the season is “Legacy,” so we're getting a lot of character-based work. This isn't necessarily obvious in the first episode, but we learn a lot about Eve's background, her family and why she's so excited about being a firefighter. It clears up a lot of things for me as an actress because I didn't know what her background was.

We have a lot to look forward to. I think the theme of this episode is just family. These are firefighters who sacrifice their lives to save other people's lives, but we don't really know much about their lives. You will get a lot of information about why she chose this career path and why she invested in Three Rock and what she is like.

We had such a short season last season, so I feel like we actually get a chance to flesh out all the characters, which is really exciting. We'll learn a lot about Eve. We actually just finished a couple of episodes that delved very deeply into her backstory, and it was very emotional. I'm really excited for people to see it.

Eve's backstory is inspired by Latimer's own life

“I met with the writers right before the season started and talked about things I would like to present.”

Is there a storyline you'd like to see explored for Eve that the series hasn't been able to delve into yet?

Jules Latimer: Yeah, it's funny because I met with the writers right before the season started and talked about things that I would like to present and I thought, “I really want to show that she is one.” Country girl.” Personally, I'm from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and when I got the opportunity to be on this show and meet Max, I thought, “We're both country people, and I don't think we are “A lot of pictures of black people on farms or ranches.”

“I think it would be really cool to see Eve – maybe she's on a horse, maybe we'll see her on a farm. Maybe we see the things that connect her to small country town values, or things that she grew up with, and that's all that she knows. Luckily, that happens this season and we get a chance to see how her relationship develops with an ex who gets caught up in the scenario. You can see what connects her to the city, and I'm really excited about that.

The fans are so excited that Jared Padalecki is there Tierra del Fuego Season 3. Can Eve interact with his character?

Jules Latimer: We do. We have a really nice episode together and even his introduction to the season is pretty incredible. It's very shocking and we're all wondering, “Who is this guy?” We have to deal with an entire forest fire together. On a purely human level, he's a great guy. I've always been a fan of Jared. I really enjoyed working with him.

He is amazing. I just didn't realize what he did. I'm a Gilmore Girl, but I just meet him and find out more about him and his family. He's such a great guy. He and Max are really good friends. We have such a family environment on set, so it's always great to have new people. Jared is extremely welcome at Fire Country. He is truly phenomenal.
