Candidates in Iowa's Third Congressional District are making their final “Get Out the Vote” efforts before Election Day on Tuesday.

Republican Rep. Zach Nunn is seeking re-election and took the stage in Altoona. He urged voters to go to the polls on election day.

Representative Nunn praised his work in Congress over the past two years and emphasized his bipartisanship.

He also focused on what he believes still needs to be done, such as resolving problems at the southern border.

“This is the most competitive district in America,” said Rep. Nunn. “We will deliver. We stood for Republican principles but worked with independents and Democrats to create real legislation that changes people’s lives.”

Cook Political Report rates this race as a Republican primary, making it one of the most competitive House races in the country.

A new Des Moines Register poll gave Democrats the edge, finding that 48% of Iowans in the Third District would vote for a Democrat, while 41% voted Republican.

“Here’s the reality: polls don’t add up, and you can look at all sorts of polls out here. What matters is what type of ground game you have,” said Rep. Nunn. “We approached this like a military operation. But most importantly, we’re very focused on making sure Republicans get out to vote, and we’ve seen that in real numbers here in Iowa.”

New poll numbers gave Democrats in Iowa a boost ahead of Election Day. They also held their own “Get Out the Vote” rally in Des Moines.

“We are a purple state,” said state Rep. Jennifer Konfrst (D-Windsor Heights). “We’ll have a good night tomorrow night. I don't care how we felt in 2016. It doesn't change the data. It doesn't change the numbers, and I know you're nervous, but we are. We've done everything right as far as spending goes. We have done the area that they don't do.

Lanon Baccam, the Democrat running against Republican incumbent Zach Nunn, was also in attendance. He focused his campaign on protecting reproductive freedom, Social Security and health insurance.

“It's so important that you talk to your neighbors and friends about Kamala Harris and Lanon Baccam because we need them in Washington to move this country forward,” said Rep. Konfrst.
