India vs New Zealand live score: New Zealand is on the verge of a historic victory

India, a team known at home for dominating away teams with plenty of spin, were undone by the very weapon they often used to devastating effect. The day began with India reeling after losing their captain Rohit Sharma late on the first day. Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal continued but it wasn't long before Gill was caught LBW, a dismissal that opened the floodgates. Then came Virat Kohli's shocking exit, which was stopped by Santner's tipping full toss, a rare misjudgment from the Indian talisman.

From there a procession of the wickets followed. India lost six wickets in the opening session with their famous batting line-up succumbing to the New Zealand spinners. Santner's brilliant line and length, combined with his subtle variations in pace, kept the Indian batters on the backfoot. Glenn Phillips also contributed, picking up some crucial wickets as India struggled not just with their bowling but also with the deteriorating pitch and perhaps their own shot selection.

After lunch, Ravindra Jadeja launched a brief counter-attack with some powerful hits, but his dismissal reopened the wound and India quickly collapsed thereafter, leaving the visitors with a sizeable lead in the first innings.

New Zealand's ability to beat India in their own backyard is a remarkable achievement and they are now on the cusp of a potentially historic victory.
