The Carolina Hurricanes continued their winning streak with a dominant 8-2 win over the Boston Bruins on Thursday night at Lenovo Center.

The Canes now have a record of 7-2 and five straight wins.

Carolina took a 4-1 lead in the early stages, even though they had to thwart two of the visitors' 5-on-3 chances.

Jack Roslovic scored the first goal at 6:28, but the Bruins evened things up on one of their two-man advantages when the puck sailed past goalie Pytor Kochetkov after bouncing off the leg of Carolina defenseman Jaccob Slavin.

After that it was almost all Carolina.

Svechnikov, Blake and Necas opened the scoring in the first period, with those three goals coming within 91 seconds.

Blake's goal was scored by Dmitry Orlov, who was playing in his 800th career NHL game.

After Boston scored early in the second period, the Canes went back to work.

Svechnikov and Roslovic each scored again, then Sean Walker and Jesperi Kotkaniemi scored their first goals of the season.

Next up for the Canes is a home game against the Capitals on Sunday night.

Game notes:

  • Officially, Carolina took a 3-5 lead on the power play. Their kills were also excellent.
  • The Canes outscored the Bruins 37-15 in that game. Roslovic was ahead with six goals.
  • The Bruins beat the Canes 32-14, but Carolina handled the physicality well.
