How the Ravens defense sees a rematch against red-hot Joe Burrow

Ja'Marr Chase was the receiver who hurt Baltimore the most in Week 5 (10 catches, 193 yards, two touchdowns), showing off his explosive run-after-catch ability on a 70-yard touchdown play.

Tee Higgins, who also had a great day against the Ravens last month (nine catches, 83 yards, two touchdowns), did not practice on Monday and Tuesday, putting his availability for Thursday night in question.

However, the Ravens also have to be wary of Bengals tight end Mike Gesicki, who had two touchdown catches and 100 yards receiving against the Raiders. Burrow has great confidence in his accuracy and often places throws that allow his receivers to play the ball even when he is covered. It will be important for the Ravens to win battles for the football when Burrow throws into tight windows.

“There were a lot of contested catches in the last game and it seemed like they made a lot of them,” Humphrey said. “You know what to expect from Joe. He’s an elite quarterback, so it’s always a big challenge.”

Humphrey is glad to have another chance at Cincinnati, a chance to show that Baltimore's pass defense is really heading in the right direction. Burrow can exploit even the slightest lapse in coverage, but Humphrey believes the Ravens' pass defense will become more cohesive.

“We just have to keep paying attention to the details,” Humphrey said. “We have to do it exactly the way we are trained, exactly the way we do it in practice, so that it works in the game. We can't practice it this way all week – train this way – and then get it done in the game, and it's not quite like you just practiced it.

“So many times this year, just one guy isn't exactly where he should be and that's when it hit him. It's these little, tiny details that have made everyone sharpen their approach, sharpen their way of thinking. … That keeps you focused,” and that’s what we need.”
