Houston Texans defeated the New England Patriots in Week 6 of the 2024 NFL regular season

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (KTRK) — The Houston Texans dominated with a 41-21 victory over the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Early in the first quarter, Texas quarterback CJ Stroud connected with wide receiver Tank Dell for a 2-yard touchdown to secure a 7-0 lead over New England. With about three minutes left in the first quarter, Stroud found running back Joe Mixon, returning after a three-game absence due to an ankle injury, for the 10-yard touchdown to extend Houston's lead to 14-0.

The Patriots broke their scoring drought after starting rookie quarterback Drake Maye found wideout Kayshon Boutte for the 40-yard touchdown, cutting Houston's lead to 14-7 at the end of the second quarter.

At halftime, Houston led the Patriots 14-7.

In the third quarter, the Texans tried to gain momentum when Stroud connected with wideout Stefon Diggs for a 10-yard touchdown, extending Houston's lead to 21-7. Texas placekicker Ka'imi Fairbairn helped extend the lead to 27-7 with two field goal attempts. New England remained quiet in the second quarter until Patriots' Maye found tight end Hunter Henry for the 6-yard touchdown, cutting the deficit to 27-14.

Early in the fourth quarter, the Texans' Mixon rushed down left end for the 20-yard touchdown, extending Houston's lead to 34-14. Despite Houston's large lead, the Patriots' Maye connected with wideout Demario Douglas for a 35-yard touchdown to make it 34:21. In response, Texas running back Dameon Pierce rushed 54 yards down the right end to give Houston a 41-21 lead.

In Houston's win over New England, the Texans' Stroud completed 20 of 31 passes for 192 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Not to mention, Texas defensive end Will Anderson Jr. finished the game with a career-high 3 sacks.

As of Week 6, Houston improves to 5-1 and sits atop the AFC South.

The Texans now extend their winning streak to three games and will continue their road trip against the Green Bay Packers in Week 7.
