Saturday Night Live gathers the vice presidents and soon-to-be vice presidents as well as some Margaret Atwood and porn stars tonight.

Okay, it was Sarah Sherman playing The Handmaid's Tale The author and Aurora Snow were only namechecked on the NBC sketch shows What is this name?e?: Election edition. Still, Kamala Harris really came into her own in the cold open. However, the current vice president wasn't the only runner-up to receive a nationwide ticket to attend Studio 8H this weekend.

“This is the most important election in American history,” said eager candidate Ben, played by tonight’s host John Mulaney. “Democracy is at stake,” he added. But despite all the self-importance and exaggeration, Ben turned out to be all passion and bluster and no memory.

Especially when it came to Virginia Senator Tim Kaine – as you can see below:

“I was Hillary Clinton’s vice presidential candidate at the time,” the Democratic vice president-elect in 2016 pleaded to puzzled faces. “They said it was the most important election in American history and that democracy was at stake. It's been less than eight years. What is my name?”

The best choice for re-election senator was current vice presidential candidate Governor Tim Walz (they look a lot alike and there's the name) or Tim Scott, the junior Republican United States Senator from South Carolina.

“You voted to put me a heartbeat away from the Oval Office in an election more recent than the publication of Zootopia” Kaine mocked Mulaney's annoying and arrogant Ben. “What’s my name?”

Still no luck.

There may be second acts in American life, but not much attention span.

Unsurprisingly, the policy is proving to be packed SNL Just days before the tight race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump comes to a head, Kaine's cameo was fun but should be overshadowed by the Veep's appearance with Maya Rudolph at the helm of the show.
