HIGHLAND PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Students at Saint Ignatius Of Loyola Catholic School in Highland Park were given permission Friday to swap their uniforms for Dodger gear to cheer on the Boys in Blue.

“I’ve been a Dodger fan since I was born. I love her,” said fifth-grader Emilio Alvarez.

In honor of the World Series, the school gave all students the opportunity to ditch their school uniform and instead show their Dodger pride, starting with Game 1 on Friday.

“We have a great sense of community and wanted to instead allow our students to celebrate the Dodgers' run to the World Series,” said Audrey Blanchette, the school's principal.

Some young fans even brought props, including a World Series trophy and a ring, to show how confident they are that the Dodgers will win it all.

“World Series trophy. Because the Dodgers are going to win it,” said Rene Aguirre, a fifth-grader.

The confidence radiated from every Dodger fan, no matter how old they were.

“We will win. Really confident. We’re going to win the World Series,” fifth-grader Rylan Martinez said.

Sister Georgette Coulombe said, “Oh, we’re winning, there’s no doubt in my mind.”
“I hope they can do it. I want to bring it home. I don’t care what game they bring it home, but I just want to win,” added middle school teacher Tyler Pruszynski.

Students, parents and staff also dedicated their morning prayers to the late Fernando Valenzuela, who passed away on Tuesday.

The school principal told Eyewitness News that students would be allowed to wear Dodger gear at every Boys in Blue game during the World Series.
