A new poll released Monday, with Election Day just hours away, shows Vice President Kamala Harris with a four-point lead nationally over former President Trump as the gender gap between both candidates narrows.

The NPR/PBS News/Marist poll of 1,297 likely voters conducted from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 shows Harris with 51% of the vote, compared to Trump's 47%. The survey has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.

The poll shows that as Election Day approaches, more men are attracted to Harris, while more women are supporting Trump.

In the same poll in late September, Trump led Harris among men 57% to 41%. This lead has now shrunk to 51-47%.

Trump leads Harris 51% to 46% among independent voters, and among likely voters who say they have already voted, Harris received 56% support, while Trump received 53% support among those who have not yet voted %, Marist reported.

Thirty-one percent of respondents named preserving democracy as the “top issue” when thinking about the November election, followed by inflation at 25%, immigration at 19%, abortion at 10% and health care at 7%.

When asked the same about Trump, 55% said they believe he is making proposals he wants to implement, while 44% believe he is just trying to win votes, the poll shows.
