Hammer and Rails Poll Results – Basketball Expectations

1 minute, 9 seconds Read

It's the end of the week and that means the poll results are back! This week was all about basketball as I wanted to know what your expectations are for Purdue's Big Ten finish and what your expectations are for the incoming freshman class. A lot is expected of this group, so I wanted to hear your thoughts.

First, though, I wanted to know where you think Purdue will end up in the first year of the expanded Big Ten. The media picked Purdue for their third straight win and Three-Pete, but did you all agree? Let's get to the results!

I placed the top four separately from first place simply because I know that is often a goal not only for Painter and the team, but also for the fans. It's a kind of pride knowing we finished in the top four. 54% say they expect Purdue to finish in the top four, while 28% of voters say it is a reasonable expectation for Purdue to win the conference for the third straight season.

Next, let's talk about newbies.

A pretty obvious frontrunner as Gicarri Harris comes away with 60% of the vote. The next seven-footer in the long line of Purdue giants, Daniel Jacobsen, ranks second at 17%. There's a clear front-runner here, and that makes sense since Harris is highly regarded and, of course, a Purdue heir.
