Garbers named UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week

LOS ANGELES – Redshirt senior Ethan Garbers of UCLA Football was named Student-Athlete of the Week for competitions held October 15-21.

The quarterback led UCLA to its first-ever Big Ten win on Saturday at Rutgers with his best statistical performance as a Bruin. He set career highs in passing yards (383) and touchdowns (4) and posted, by far, the fifth-highest completion percentage of any Bruin QB since 1980 (32-38, 84%). Garbers also had a 49-yard rushing touchdown, bringing his total to five touchdowns on the day. With this bout on the sidelines, he recorded the longest run of his career; Garbers also scored a 67-yard touchdown reception Keegan Joneswhich marks the longest pass of his career. He is one of only two Bruins since 1980 to have more than 30 completions and a completion rate above 80 percent in the same game (Dorian Thompson-Robinson). With Garbers at the helm, UCLA posted season highs in points (35) and total offense (478 yards) against the Scarlet Knights.

Garbers secures the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week award for the second time in his career.
