Tennessee football and Alabama face off in their third rivalry game on Saturday in October, with potential playoff implications hanging in the balance.

Neyland Stadium will rock when the No. 10 Vols (5-1, 2-1 SEC) at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC No. 7 Alabama (5-1, 2-1) receives.

Much of the 2024 college football season remains in place. But the winner of this top 10 matchup should have a chance of a place in the playoffs. The loser's path to the 12-team group becomes narrower.

Alabama won 16 of the last 17 meetings in this series under coach Nick Saban, but lost to the Vols in an epic game at Neyland Stadium in 2022. First-year coach Kalen DeBoer will get his first taste of the rivalry today.

Tennessee vs Alabama prediction

Alabama 27, Tennessee 20: Tennessee's offensive woes seem to be the rule rather than the exception as of late. So unless the Vols reverse this trend, Alabama has the edge. Other than that, this is a winnable game for Tennessee. But it takes a strong defensive performance, a loud Neyland Stadium and an offensive turnaround. Two of them seem more likely than the others, at least for now. Check out more predictions from our Knox News staff.
