Florida voter registration deadline. What you should know if you missed it

It's almost there. T-minus one week until election day.

As early voting continues across the country, some residents who have not registered may be wondering whether it is too late to register.

According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, 23 states and Washington DC allow same-day registration. Is Florida one of them?

The 2024 general election will take place on Tuesday, November 5th.

I am not registered to vote. Can I still do this?

No, the deadline to register for the 2024 Florida general election passed earlier this month on Monday, October 7th.

Can I still register to vote in future Florida elections during this time?

Yes, you can still register to vote in next year's election in Florida. Local and state elections take place every year.

How do I register to vote in Florida?

To register online, go to RegistertoVoteFlorida.gov. To submit an online application you will need:

  • The most current and valid Florida driver's license (Florida DL) or Florida identification card (Florida ID).
  • The last four digits of your social security number.

You must enter your name, date of birth, Florida DL or Florida ID card number and issue date exactly as they appear on your most current and valid Florida DL or Florida ID card.

If you do not have the necessary information, you can still use the online system to complete an online voter registration application form. You can then print out the form, sign it and mail it or deliver it to your district returning officer's office.

Other ways to register to vote in Florida

You can also register to vote at the following address:

  • Any election office manager (by mail or in person)
  • Any office that issues Florida DLs or Florida ID cards
  • The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle's online system for renewing a Florida DL or Florida ID
  • Any voter registration office, such as a public assistance office
  • Any public library

How do you know if you are a registered voter in Florida?

Here you can make sure you are a registered voter and all your information is correct. You must enter your first name, last name and date of birth.

Submit the form to view your voter status, address, county, voter ID number, political party and voter status.

An “active” voter means you are eligible to vote.

When does early voting begin? Final deadlines to watch before the 2024 Florida general election

Early voting has already begun! There are only two important dates left to remember this election season:

  • Saturday November 2nd: Early voting ends nationwide; However, some counties are offering an additional day on November 3rd.
  • Tuesday, November 5th: Election day. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the time zone where you live. All voters still in line at 7 p.m. will be allowed to cast their vote, no matter how long it takes
