Well, no one wants to The.

Erin Foster was worried she might get divorced because of her new Netflix rom-com series Nobody Wants This, which stars Adam Brody and Kristen Bell.

“When I met Simon and kind of settled into this healthy relationship, I was in the process of converting to Judaism,” Foster, 42, recalled during a recent appearance on the “LadyGang” podcast.

Thinking her romance with husband Simon Tikhman, 40, would be an interesting idea for a show, she decided to sell it to 20th Century-Fox.

Tikhman told her partner that she sold a show about the two of them meeting and the fact that his family doesn't like her, saying, “You can't write about my family.”

“Really?” said one of the “LadyGang” members, surprised by the revelation. Foster then admitted that she believed the show would have an impact on their relationship.

“I don’t want to do this,” she remembered saying to herself. “This will get me divorced!”

In a panic, Foster then called her father-in-law and told him: “I just want to be honest with you, I sold this show… the concept of the show is…”

His answer? “Just don’t make us look poor.”

The final episode ended with a cliffhanger as Netflix just renewed the series for a second season. The news was announced on Thursday at the Bloomberg Screentime conference in LA by Bela Bajaria, Netflix's chief content officer.

Creating “Nobody Wants This” will always be a career highlight for me. “The incredible cast, crew, producers and executives have made this the show it is today and seeing the audience reaction to this series now that it is out in the world has been more than anything I could have imagined “We can only dream of it,” Foster said in an interview statement.

“I'm so happy to be able to continue this story alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I've been such a fan of since 'Girls'… Justice for Healthy Relationships is the most romantic thing!”

The second season includes Konner and Kaplan as executive producers and showrunners. Nora Silver will also serve as an executive producer on the upcoming season.

“It's a dream to work on 'Nobody Wants This.'” “Erin is the rare creator with a crystal-clear voice and a truly collaborative spirit,” Konner told Netflix. “I'm a real fan of Erin's show and I feel so lucky to be in the same room again with two of my favorites, Bruce Kaplan and Sarah Heyward from Girls.”

Kaplan is excited to join the rom-com family, saying the show is “such a unique and beautiful show and I'm already having the best time working on it.”

“Conversations have definitely begun about a possible second season,” Foster told IndieWire last month. “The story in Season 1 develops very slowly. So if there's a second season, I would just want to pick up where we left off and take it slow because I don't want us to get too far ahead of ourselves.”

“We’re getting a really positive response,” she continued. “And that's why I think the conversations about a possible second season have definitely begun.”

Even though the details in “Nobody Wants This” aren't exactly real events, the emotions surrounding Foster's experience remain the same.

Just like Joanne, a sex-positive podcast host played by Bell, Foster fell in love with Tikhman. Although she wasn't raised Jewish – and he's not a rabbi like Brody's Noah – Foster converted to Judaism before marrying her husband in 2019.

“We don’t have similar backgrounds,” Foster said on her podcast with her sister Sara Foster. “He came from a much more traditional place. I came from a somewhat unconventional place. When we met, we asked ourselves, 'How is this going to work?'” (The siblings are the daughters of record producer David Foster.)

A notable comparison between the series and Erin's real life is the way the two met each other's families. In episode 6, Noah meets Joanne's mother in gym clothes while carrying sunflowers, which makes Joanne “gross.”

In fact, Tikhman brought sunflowers for Erin's mother, which made her worry that he was caring too much.

“It's not always tangible things that I can point to,” Erin told Today. “I would say the emotional journey is very similar to my experience when I met my husband.”
