Eagles make highly anticipated move for star WR in latest proposed trade

After a slow start to the season, the Philadelphia Eagles found their footing and won three straight to improve to 5-2. With the November 5th trade deadline looming, fans are expecting another move to take the Eagles to the next level in the second half of the season.

One of the areas for improvement is the wide receiver rotation. Despite adding Jahan Dotson in the offseason, Philadelphia is still overly dependent on the production of AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith and Saquon Barkley. The WR depth behind Smith and Brown is particularly concerning as Dotson has been a very disappointing player for the Eagles so far this season.

In seven games, Dotson has six catches for 35 yards and no touchdowns. The other options at receiver, Johnny Wilson and Ainias Smith, don't inspire much confidence from the fan base. As a result, the team has often played two sets of tight end, but it's clear there is a need for another wideout.

One name PhillyVoice's Jimmy Kempski mentioned was Adam Thielen of the Carolina Panthers. A possible trade construction that looks like this makes a lot of sense for both sides.

Thielen has been on the IR list since Week 3 but is close to returning. Last year, he managed to post a 1,000-yard season despite playing in one of the league's most dysfunctional offenses with rookie Bryce Young. The 34-year-old could look even more effective on a team with two elite receivers.

The Panthers are 1-7 and already traded Diontae Johnson away earlier this week. They have no reason to keep Thielen going. An intriguing young player like Eli Ricks and a late-round pick should be enough to land the two-time Pro Bowler.

Historically, GM Howie Roseman was active at the deadline. We can reasonably expect a similar approach this time. He will certainly leave no stone unturned. This Thielen deal might be worth a look.
