Presidential candidate Donald Trump is holding what may be his final campaign rally tonight.

The Republican candidate running for the White House against Democrat Kamala Harris is holding his final rally of the 2024 race in Grand Rapids, Michigan, after a series of events in the swing states Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Georgia on Sunday.

But his appearance at Van Andel Arena tonight, Monday, may be his last rally as a political candidate for two reasons.

If he wins, he will not be able to run for a third term because the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution limits the president to two four-year terms. Trump also said earlier this year that he would not run again in the next election.

Speaking to Sharyl Attkisson on “Full Measure”, the former US president – who successfully ran in 2016 and unsuccessfully in 2020 – was asked whether he would consider trying again in the 2028 presidential election if he doesn't win this time would.

“No, I don’t,” Trump replied. “I don’t see that at all. Hopefully we’ll be successful.”

Trump first announced his intention to run for a second term in November 2022, well ahead of Harris, who was nominated by Democrats after incumbent President Joe Biden dropped out of the race in July.

Two years later, Trump's campaign is wrapping up its final messages as voters go to the polls on Tuesday. It hasn't exactly been a smooth road for the former president, who has had an eventful few years, including being charged in four criminal cases, convicted in one case and surviving an assassination attempt.

Trump's rallies have made headlines throughout the presidential campaign. On July 13, he was injured by a bullet that grazed his ear in an assassination attempt while giving a speech to supporters in Butler, Pennsylvania. At that moment, he became the first president or candidate to be shot since Ronald Reagan in 1981.

A week later, he addressed the crowd during a campaign stop in Michigan and said he had taken a “bullet for democracy.”

Last week, his rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City made headlines when comedian Tony Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a “floating island of trash” and used profanity while joking that Latinos “love making babies.” The Trump supporter's comments were met with significant backlash.

Both candidates focused on swing states in their final appearances before the polls begin on Tuesday. On Sunday, Harris held a rally on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing where she appealed to Arab Americans, some of whom expressed their reaction to Israel's bombing of Palestine in response to the October 7, 2023 attack initiated are dissatisfied. In July she said she would “always ensure that Israel can defend itself.”
