While the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York Yankees 4-2 in Game 2 of the World Series on Saturday, it wasn't without losses as Shohei Ohtani was forced to leave the game and play second due to a subluxation of his left shoulder Position slipped base in the bottom of the seventh inning.

But after game manager Dave Roberts said the team was “encouraged” by the tests that revealed Ohtani's injury and he still expects the slugger to be able to play in the World Series.

On Sunday, Roberts made it official, telling ESPN's Karl Ravech that Ohtani would be ready for Game 3 in New York on Monday night.

This is great news for the Dodgers, who are loaded with talent but would miss Ohtani's presence on the field and on the basepaths. It's also great news for everyone watching. Ohtani is a unique talent and the baseball world should hope he can pitch every inning in his first-ever World Series appearance. It will be history no matter what happens.

Game 3 of the World Series between the Dodgers and Yankees begins at 8:08 p.m. ET on Monday.
