The UCLA Bruins not only had a bye week, but also their first conference win of the season after a loss Rutgers in week 8. Now tasked with competing against a Nebraska Team on the road that just finished 4th Ohio State up to the wire.

Nebraska's true freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola has impressed this season and has also drawn many comparisons to the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes included. From his looks to his style off the field and his style of play on the field, Raiola models his game after one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game and even worked with Mahomes in the offseason.

UCLA head coach DeShaun Foster got acquainted with Raiola before Saturday's game. But he knows Mahomes better from his previous coaching position in Lubbock.

“I was with Pat Mahomes in 1616 Texas Tech. So it's crazy when you see him (Raiola) because yeah, he really emulates Pat,” Foster said Monday.

Foster has spent a lot of time with the Bruins. A star running back for the team, a student and graduate assistant for UCLA and the team's running backs coach before being named head coach before the season. But he also spent a season with the Red Raiders in 2016 as running backs coach in Mahomes' final college season, where he broke out before heading to the NFL.

Mahomes led the country in passing yards (5,052) and total touchdowns (53) for Texas Tech in 2016. And while Raiola hasn't quite reached those heights as a true freshman, his growth is evident.

“You can tell he’s getting more comfortable,” Foster said. “He's got a big arm, so he's going to try to make plays, but I'm excited for our DBs, our front linemen, our linebackers and everyone else. “He's playing good ball.”

After throwing nine touchdown passes in the first five games of his college career, Raiola has failed to find the end zone in Nebraska's last three meetings. He'll look to reverse that trend, and the Bruins will look to keep it going when the two Big Ten teams face off in Lincoln this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
