On October 30, the Missouri Western women's basketball team played an exhibition game against the Iowa Hawkeyes at Carver-Hawkeye Arena at 6:31 p.m.

Missouri Western fought hard against the But Hawkeyes lost 55-110. It was an exciting experience for the Griffons as they played a Big Ten team in front of 14,998 spectators.

Basketball player Małgorzata Byczkowska, known as Gosia, started her game day by meeting her team at Starbucks.

Byczkowska arrived at Starbucks at 10:30 a.m., accompanying her teammates in her travel suit.

“I'm wearing black Nike sweatpants, a crew neck, and a Griffon T-shirt underneath,” she said.

The team chatted in line about their anticipation of game day.

“I got a shaken espresso before the Iowa game,” he said Byczkowska.

After meeting with the team it was time for Byczkowska to go to the locker room, get their gear and help load the bus for the long drive to Iowa.

“I brought my pillow and my computer, so I mostly did homework and took naps on the go,” he said Byczkowska.

The team stopped at Panera at 2 p.m. for their pregame meal and then hit the road for another two hours before reaching Iowa.

Upon arrival, the team was ushered into their locker room and began putting on their uniforms and lacing up their shoes.

“I have to look good, it will be on national television,” he said Byczkowska when she got her hair done.

The Griffons made their way to the field around 5:20 p.m. and began warming up before kickoff at 6:31 p.m.

The Griffons fought hard throughout the game and enjoyed the experience they gained.

“It was a great experience. We had so much fun together and it’s just great to be in this gym and this atmosphere,” he said Byczkowska.

After the game and a conversation with Coach Feldhause, the girls got changed and excitedly got on the bus because they were going to Chipotle.

“I got a bowl with white rice, chicken, black beans, guacamole, tomatoes and corn and mixed it all together,” Byczkowska said.

The girls got back on the bus with their Chipotle in hand and drove for a good two hours before stopping at a gas station for a bathroom and snack break.

When we got back on the bus everyone was exhausted as it was already very late. They settled in and drove on in silence, most sleeping soundly, before arriving back at Missouri Western at 2:30 a.m.
