This year's “Dancing with the Stars” athletes scored big for their “Dedication Night” performances last Tuesday.

Former Patriots receiver Danny Amendola received the night's highest score for his contemporary number honoring late NFL and college coach Mike Leach, while NBA retiree Dwight Howard had the only score under 30 for his rumba, which he called his dedicated to five children, reached rock bottom.

This week, Amendola, Howard, rugby star Ilona Maher and gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik tried to survive another evening. This time the theme was “Disney Night,” with each remaining couple dancing to a different song from a classic Disney film.

Additionally, Episode 6 marked the return of team dances and individual dances. All participants and their partners were divided into two groups that competed for extra points. Captains for each team are usually determined by the two dancers with the lowest scores from the previous week – in this case it was Howard and Maher.

After pairing up, each group performed a unique number to a different Disney piece. The judges then scored the dances, with each star receiving the same score, which was combined with their individual ratings from the evening.

On Tuesday night, Amendola and Maher danced jazz numbers to NSYNC's “Bye Bye Bye” from “Deadpool & Wolverine” (2024) and Jessica Darrow's “Surface Pressure” from “Encanto” (2021), respectively. Howard danced the tango to Owl City's “When Can I See You Again” from “Wreck-It Ralph” (2012), while Nedoroscik performed the Charleston to Jocelyn Brown's “A Star is Born” from “Hercules” (1997).

Here's everything you need to know about 2024's Dancing with the Stars Episode 6, including updated scores for Maher, Amendola and more.

Who was eliminated from Dancing with the Stars?

  • Episode 2: Anna Delvey and Tori Spelling
  • Episode 4: Reginald VelJohnson and Eric Roberts
  • Episode 5: Brooks Nader
  • Episode 6: Phaedra Parks

Brooks Nader was the dancer on the chopping block last Tuesday and saw her dreams of DWTS fame crumble to ash after she was voted out.

In this week's episode, Phaedra Parks was eliminated.

How does the “Dancing with the Stars” rating work?

The show's scoring is divided into two categories: jury and audience. During the episode, the three judges each give the dancers a score from 1 to 10.

This season, Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli return as judges. Before the audience votes, the judges award the dancers a maximum of 30 points. There are a few appearances by guest judges whose votes are also below 10. If there is a guest judge, the maximum score increases to 40.

This is where the scoring can get confusing. The point is not exactly the number of points a dance receives, but rather how this number affects the total number of votes cast by the jury. Let's say the judges award 100 points throughout the round. Dancer A receives 10 and Dancer B receives 20. Before the audience votes are counted, Dancer A receives 10 percent of the judge's votes and Dancer B receives 20 percent.

Let's say Dancer A received 35 percent of the public vote while Dancer B only received 5 percent. Dancer A's final result would be 45 percent of the votes and Dancer B would have received 40 percent. In this example, Dancer A would move on and Dancer B would be eliminated.

The score is the percentage of votes from the jury added to the percentage of votes from the audience to get an overall score.
