The McNeese Cowboys (4-5, 1-3 SLC) finally return home when they take on the Texas A&M Commerce Lions (1-7, 1-2 SLC) in a Southland Conference matchup on Saturday night.

The Cowboys were on the road all October and lost each of their three games. They fought last but lost 24-19 to the Nicholls Colonels in Thibodaux.

Kickoff at Cowboy Stadium is scheduled for Saturday, November 2nd at 7:00 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN+.

Homecoming in many ways

McNeese finally gets to return to Cowboy Stadium for this game. After more than a month away from home, the friendly environment of Lake Charles will be a welcoming place for the team.

In addition, the game is actually McNeese's homecoming. Several events take place around campus, including the Friday night block party. Therefore, it is a homecoming in the truest sense of the word for this tried and tested team.

A NEW SIGNAL CALLER

McNeese has now officially lost Clifton McDowell for the remainder of the season. He is injured and will not play for the rest of the year.

That means the keys will be completely handed over to Kamden Sixkiller, who has already made a few starts this season. Sixkiller has shown some flashes and may be the better passer of the two. However, the offense loses an element of the running game that McDowell provided.

RESET, THREE LEFT

Due to a combination of injuries, the long road trip and a tough series of opponents, McNeese didn't have the best month in October.

However, now they have the opportunity to retreat a little, return home and try to become healthier. There are also three games left on the program where there is still a chance of ending the season with a winning record. That task begins on Saturday against the Lions.
