As we head into the final month of hurricane season, AccuWeather is forecasting one to three more named storms this year.

However, AccuWeather also warns that tropical development could continue beyond November, with the possibility of activity in December, something not seen since Tropical Storm Olga formed in December 2007.

“We've been saying since the beginning of hurricane season, even way back when we put out our first forecast in March, that we thought the end of hurricane season (in November) could be quite active,” AccuWeather senior hurricane expert Alex said DaSilva. “That’s what we’re still thinking at the moment.”

The National Hurricane Center is currently monitoring a tropical depression in the southwest Caribbean Sea that could strengthen into a tropical storm in the coming week.
