College Football Top 25 Rankings for Week 11: Colorado, Coach Prime in Position for Big 12 Run in November

2 minutes, 14 seconds Read

Will November belong to Prime?

Colorado had a bye week in Week 10, but the Buffaloes benefited from the chaos of the Big 12 in Week 11. Iowa State suffered its first loss in a 23-22 thumping of Texas Tech. Kansas State suffered its second loss with a surprising 24-19 win in Houston.

The Buffaloes are ranked No. 21 in the Sporting News Top 25 poll heading into Week 11 – meaning they are now the third-highest ranked team in the conference. Could second-year coach Deion Sanders lead Colorado to the Big 12 championship game?

It's certainly possible. No. 10 BYU is undefeated, but the Cougars have a test at rival Utah in Week 11. No. 20 Iowa State and No. 24 Kansas State will play each other in the regular season finale.

If the Buffaloes can win their next four games – which is possible with the dynamic tandem of Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter – then Colorado has a chance to get to the conference championship game.

That's what Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark promised, and the unpredictability delivered. Colorado and BYU were ranked 11th and 13th, respectively, in the Big 12 preseason poll. Arizona State — picked last — is also still in contention at 6-2.

That starts in Week 11 against Texas Tech, and we expect the Buffaloes to be in the first set of the College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday. In other words, they won't be hard to find.

No. 1 Oregon retained the top spot after defeating Michigan 38-17. No. 2 Georgia beat Florida 34-20, and Ohio State moved up to No. 3 after a 20-13 win over Penn State, which dropped to No. 6. No. 4 Miami and No. 5 Texas round out the top five.
