College football rankings: Top 12 teams in updated coaches' poll, AP Top 25 after Week 7

The first six weeks of the college football season have shown that the Big 12 Conference is a force to be reckoned with in college football.

That didn't change in week 7.

No. 19 Kansas State got everything it had to deal with and more on Saturday at Colorado, which jumped into the Top 25 heading into Week 8 with a win. But the Wildcats gave the go-ahead at the last minute, followed by a turnover on downs for the Buffaloes resulting in a 31-28 loss, dropping Colorado to 4-2 and 2-1 in Big 12 play. However, the bigger storyline could be the future development of two-way star Travis Hunter.

A week after its first Big 12 win of the season, Arizona State (5-1, 2-1 in the Big 12) earned its biggest win of the Kenny Dillingham era when the Sun Devils defeated No. 17 Utah 27-0 . 19 at home in Tempe, Arizona. The Utes had no solution for Sun Devils running back Cam Skattebo, who ran for 156 yards and scored two touchdowns in the win.

Elsewhere, No. 15 BYU easily defeated No. 15 Arizona 41-19 as quarterback Jake Retzlaff and the Cougars' offense racked up 398 yards of total offense on the day. With their sixth win of the season, the Cougars secured their seventh bowl eligibility in the Kalani-Sitake era. It is also the third straight Big 12 game in which BYU has scored 30 or more points.
