The players are behind him.

The answers didn't really surprise Joe. Still, Joe wanted to know what was going through the minds of the two offensive players in the Bucs locker room after the game.

Todd Bowles had just decided against a deuce after getting within 24-23 with 27 seconds left in regulation in an overtime loss to the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.

The decision not to go for two essentially gave lethal, one-time Chiefs quarterback Pat Mahomes a chance to do what he has done so many times: burn a team for a win.

Roger Staubach, Joe Montana, Tom Brady and Mahomes – guys you never wanted to give the ball to voluntarily while the game was on the line. Unless you were her teammate.

So Joe asked two players who played key roles in Monday night's game what they wanted to do. Did they want to play as a pair and possibly win? Or did they want to roll the dice and pray that Mahomes never got his hands on the ball again?

Joe got the same answer from both: “Coach’s decision.”

It wasn't like they were upset. If anything, Joe seemed to scare both of them, as if they thought Joe was trying to set them up (which is why Joe doesn't identify the players in question).

No. No ambush attempt was made. Joe wanted to know how they felt.

They both seemed okay with how everything worked out. The Bucs had their chance and simply missed the knockout.

Joe is confident that few, if any, Bucs fans agree with the two players.
