Christian Darrisaw tore both his ACL and ACL; TJ Hockenson activated

The Vikings have added TJ Hockenson to their 53-man roster and placed Christian Darrisaw on injured reserve, Kevin O'Connell announced Friday.

Hockenson will make his season debut against the Colts in Week 9, just over nine months after undergoing surgery to repair his ACL in late January. He suffered the injury in Week 16 of last season and had to let his MCL heal before surgery.

Unfortunately, Hockenson takes over the roster spot of a new Vikings star player with an ACL/MCL injury. Darrisaw tore both ligaments Thursday night and will undergo season-ending surgery, O'Connell said.

This is an extremely serious injury for Darrisaw. Week 1 of the 2025 season is still a little over ten months away, so he has a chance of being ready if he has a similar schedule to Hockenson, but that's not a guarantee.

It's bittersweet news for the Vikings. The return of Hockenson will give their offense a boost, but the loss of Darrisaw is brutal. He was one of their best players this season and an All-Pro tackle.
