“Chiefs land ideal Rashee Rice replacement in planned blockbuster trade.”

The Chiefs need to explore all possible options to replace the production of star WR Rashee Rice. Several names are already being talked about as trade targets, but the Browns' Amari Cooper stands out from the crowd.

A new proposed trade would bring Cooper to Kansas City. He appears to be falling out of favor with a mediocre 1-3 roster in Cleveland, and the nature of his contract means he would easily fit into the Chiefs' limited roster space.

A five-time Pro Bowler, Cooper recorded just 1,250 receiving yards in 2023. He still has plenty left and could push the Chiefs over the top in their quest for a third straight Super Bowl.

This season isn't going as planned for Cooper. He caught just 16 of 37 targets, with a league-leading six drops. However, he has only had two seasons in his career with a drop percentage above 5.6%, so I believe he will regress to the mean with a larger sample size.

Still, the Browns are a mess that's going nowhere. Deshaun Watson may be the worst QB in the league and Cleveland needs a complete overhaul. It's unlikely they will re-sign Cooper to a lengthy extension this offseason. Therefore, getting a high third-round pick and an additional fifth-rounder represents good value.

Cooper is a big, physical receiver who regularly makes contested catches on the field. He's a great complement to Xavier Worthy and Travis Kelce, giving the Chiefs three capable pass catchers.

There is no direct replacement for Rice, although Cooper may be the best theoretical option available. The Browns have to be willing to do business, and we don't know if they would be willing to work with an AFC opponent. Other than that, they have no real championship ambitions and Cooper probably won't advance this year.

This is a trade that makes sense for both sides. If Cleveland is interested, Brett Veach should make it happen.
