The Arizona Cardinals continue their 2024 NFL regular season schedule with an NFL Week 9 game today against the Chicago Bears.

The Cardinals are coming off a 28-27 win against the Miami Dolphins in NFL Week 8.

The Bears lost on the road against the Washington Commanders 18:15.

The Cardinals are 4-4 this season and tied for first place in the NFC West. The Bears are 4-3 and in last place in the NFC North.

Cardinals go up 14-6, Conner injured

Cardinals running back James Conner gained 53 yards during a 12-play, 70-yard scoring drive capped by rookie Trey Benson's 1-yard touchdown run.

Conner ran six times for 45 yards and had one reception for eight yards before landing hard on his back just before Benson's TD run with just over three minutes left in the first half.

There was no immediate update on Conner's condition, although he is under medical treatment and on the sidelines after being examined out of the blue. He seems to be fine.

Bears get FG after Cardinals turnover

Kyler Murray hit rookie receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. for a 21-yard gain on the Cardinals' third possession, but the ball was broken loose and the fumble was recovered by the Bears' Elijah Hicks.

Although Chicago recovered the ball at Arizona's 46-yard drive, the Bears' next chance was at the 35-yard drive and Cairo Santos kicked a 53-yard field goal.

Roof closes due to rain, hail

Game officials decided that the retractable roof would have to be closed whenever rain – and some hail – fell at State Farm Stadium.

The process takes about 10 minutes and with four minutes left in the first half, it is now complete.

The Bears score a field goal and pull within 7-3

The Bears gained 69 yards on 11 plays, but the drive stalled at the Cardinals' 11-yard line after three straight incompletions by Caleb Williams.

However, on third-and-7 from the Arizona 33, the rookie QB found Rome Odunze wide open on a long route to the left and the catch and run went 44 yards to put Chicago within field goal range.

Cairo Santos hit a 29-yarder to put the Bears on the scoreboard.

Cardinals win 7-0 after McBride TD run

After forcing the Bears to punt for the second straight game, the Cardinals gained excellent field position on Greg Dortch's 27-yard return to the Chicago 41.

James Conner ran for 15 yards on first down, gained another nine yards on a run and a short catch, and then tight end Trey McBride – on third-and-1 from the Bears' 17, hauled in a pass from Kyler Murray for 13 yards .

On first-and-1 from 2nd, McBride was on the move, took an inside handoff from Murray and continued to run left before getting into the end zone for a rushing touchdown with 46 seconds left in the first quarter.

The Cardinals are now a perfect 12 of 12 in goal-to-goal situations, best in the NFL.

No score after the first two possessions

The Cardinals went out of bounds three times on their first possession of the game, but after nine plays and two penalties against Chicago, the Bears were also forced to punt.

The game-winning play for Arizona was a 7-yard sack of Bears quarterback Caleb Williams by rookie Xavier Thomas and LJ Collier.

Cardinals returner and special teams player DeeJay Dallas left the game in the first quarter with a shin injury and is questionable to return.

Who is inactive for the Cardinals?

The Cardinals announced they are inactive for Sunday's game against the Bears, the most notable being starting cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting (neck).

Murphy-Bunting took full part in training throughout the week despite struggling with a neck problem in recent weeks. However, he was placed on the injury report Saturday and listed as questionable.

Defensive tackle Roy Lopez (ankle) is active although he is listed as questionable.

However, defensive tackle Naquan Jones (hamstring) is inactive. The Cardinals signed defensive tackle Ben Stille from the practice squad for this game.

Also inactive are offensive lineman Christian Jones, tight end Travis Vokolek and wide receiver Xavier Weaver.

Rookie defensive lineman Darius Robinson (calf) and right tackle Jonah Williams (knee) were listed as out on Friday.
