Roan's lively show comes after she hit the road in support of her debut album, The Midwest Princess Tour. The Rise and Fall of a Midwestern Princess.

The singer recently canceled tour appearances in Europe in early September. After two more show cancellations at the All Things Go Festival, Roan revealed that her fame had become overwhelming overnight and she needed time to focus on her mental health.

Roan's name appeared last on SNL in the September 28 sketch by Bowen Yang, who commented on the effects of fame on Roan's mental health, sparking controversy among fans. While some believed that Yang, dressed as viral pygmy hippo Moo Deng, was supporting Roan, others viewed the sketch as a mockery.

“Leave her alone! Let her take as much time as she needs for her mental health. We both deserve patience and mercy, so stop harassing her and stop throwing shellfish at her,” said Moo Deng of Yang.

Yang clarified the next day that the sketch was in support of Roan. “If my personal stance and the piece aren't entirely clear in terms of support, that's probably why it is,” Yang wrote in an Instagram Story. “Everything she's ever asked for has been reasonable and even then we can tie it to another story about boundaries or whatever.”
