When he was shown the first goal, Sahin explained: “We just accompany instead of stabbing.” It was the first shot on goal. That doesn't work! That’s just not possible.”

When asked if the team would let him down, Sahin replied: “I don't have that feeling.”… Of course you expect that when you take the lead… No, that's not the point.”

The BVB coach went on to make it clear: “We concede too many easy goals.” It’s too easy to score goals against us.”

Sahin made two substitutions at the break: Emre Can came on for the injured Waldemar Anton, Pascal Groß for the injured Marcel Sabitzer. Later, Julian Ryerson also has to go down after a long ball.

Sahin: “I've never experienced that before, that we have to change three times injured.” Niklas Süle had already suffered a torn syndesmotic ligament in his ankle during the week.

Sky reporter Patrick Wasserziehr asks again at the end of the interview. “Is the team complicated?” he asks.

The BVB coach: “Complicated? …. I know why they want to go beyond that. I don't want to say they are complicated. We will judge by what happens on the pitch. We can't duck away. We don’t meet the demands.”

There is support from the bosses. BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl, when asked whether the coach would continue: “Out of the question! I work with Nuri every day. I see how meticulously he prepares for games and how we pick things apart. Taking things out that were good and implementing critical things in training. We're working very hard on it and that's why we're moving forward together, no question about it. We are completely behind him.”
