Buffalo Bills will face the unexpected Colts quarterback in the coming weeks

As for the Buffalo Bills, all eyes are on the Miami Dolphins.

The Bills (6-2) will next face the Dolphins (2-5) in an AFC East matchup in Week 9.

However, shortly thereafter, in Week 10, the Indianapolis Colts (4-4) will travel to Highmark Stadium.

They are not led by Anthony Richardson at quarterback.

According to Colts Wire, Indy will bench Anthony Richardson in favor of veteran backup Joe Flacco.

Flacco will now make his third start of the season on Sunday night against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 9. It is possible that the 39-year-old Flacco will still be the focus of attention in the following week after the update.

On the surface, the news is surprising.

It's not below that. Flacco has played well in his previous starts this year. He is 1-1 overall in 2024.

However, there was a problem for the Colts and Richardson last week.

In a close AFC South race, Indianapolis lost 23-20 last week to the Houston Texans, who lead their division. Richardson played poorly in the game and out of nowhere decided to withdraw from the game. He later admitted that he was simply “tired” and needed a break.

That's unheard of for a starting quarterback in the NFL. The headlines that followed were predictably bad for the team and the QB, and now Flacco will get the nod.

Things could change after week 9. Until then, Bills Wire will provide updates as information becomes available.
