Incumbent State Rep. Brooke Boden has won re-election to the Iowa House of Representatives District 21 seat.

This is the third time Boden, 51, has been elected to the seat, which covers parts of Warren and Marion counties, including Indianola, Milo, Lacona and Knoxville. She was running against 49-year-old Democratic challenger Spencer Waugh of Indianola.

Boden received nearly 64% of the vote in Marion County and nearly 59% of the vote in Warren County. Waugh received almost 36% and 41% of the vote respectively. Overall, Boden won 58.7% of the vote, while Waugh won 41.3%.

Boden, of Indianola, is a self-employed small business owner. Her political experience and civic activities include previously serving as co-chair of the Warren County Republican Central Committee. She is also a member of the Elks Lodge and an active member of her church.

Boden's top priority is to “keep costs down, prevent reckless spending and combat inflation,” according to her candidate questionnaire for the Des Moines Register.
