Biden casts 2024 vote in Delaware, calls Trump's Madison Square Garden rally 'embarrassing'

President Biden cast his early vote in Delaware on Monday, telling reporters he was confident Vice President Kamala Harris would defeat former President Donald Trump and calling Trump's rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Sunday an embarrassment.

Biden stood in line with other voters outside the Delaware State Department of Elections and helped push an elderly woman in a wheelchair in front of him before casting his vote. After the vote, Biden greeted reporters outside and was asked if it was a bittersweet moment.

Biden replied: “No, that’s just sweet.”

Biden withdrew from his re-election campaign in July after a poor performance in the debate that raised concerns about his health and raised concerns among Democrats about his chances of defeating Trump.

Biden was asked what he thought of the large rally Trump held at Madison Square Garden the night before.

“It’s under every president, but we’re used to it,” Biden said. “That’s why this election is so important.”

Biden added that Trump questions his own character “every time he opens his mouth.”

Trump took the stage Sunday night before a packed house of thousands of supporters and focused his speech on increasing immigration, inflation concerns and looking to the future with lower consumer costs and securing the border.

When asked about the war between Israel and Hamas and a possible ceasefire, Biden replied: “We need a ceasefire, we should end this war.”

Turning to another foreign conflict, the Russia-Ukraine war, Biden was asked whether North Korea was sending troops to help Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“It’s very dangerous,” Biden said of the apparent escalation.

Questions also included whether Elon Musk considers his $1 million offer to swing state voters who sign his political action committee's petition in support of the Constitution to be election interference. Biden called the tech billionaire's offer “completely inappropriate.”
