Best NHL Bets Today (Bet the Golden Knights will upset the Oilers)

2 minutes, 12 seconds Read

We took a small step back yesterday and won 1-1-1 for -0.21 units with my Tuesday picks, but not every day can be a winning day.

We move on to NHL action on Wednesday and with only three games left to watch, I have a bet on each of them, including a bet on the Golden Knights to upset the Oilers in Edmonton. Let's dive in.

Season record: 28-15-3 (+11.12 units)

Predators vs Capitals Prediction

The Washington Capitals remain one of my favorite teams to bet on this season and I don't think the market has fully adjusted to their performance. They enter tonight's game ranked fourth in the NHL in 5-on-5 expected goals percentage. They face a Predators team that is only ranked 15th in this statistic.

The worst testament to the Predators was their inability to put the puck in the net. They have shot on goal on just 7.42% this season, the third-lowest rate in the NHL. The Capitals are now in third place with 14.11% of shots on goal.

I'll be backing the Caps as home favorites tonight.

Selection: Capital letters -120

Red Wings vs Blackhawks Prediction

The Red Wings and Blackhawks were two of the worst offensive teams in the NHL this season. They enter tonight's game ranked 27th and 32nd in 5-on-5 expected percentage per 60 minutes played. Additionally, they have combined to score just 5.39 total goals per 60 minutes this season, well below the set total of 6.5 for today's game.

Bet this is a low-scoring affair.

Selection: UNDER 6.5 (-124)

Golden Knights vs Oilers Prediction

The Oilers continue to have many problems and the two main areas they are lacking are the Golden Knights' strengths. First of all, the Oilers have the worst penalty kill in the NHL, allowing opponents to score on 40% of power plays against them. Now they face the NHL's third-best power play unit in the Golden Knights, who score 32.26% of the time they have a man advantage.

The second glaring discrepancy in this game is the shooting percentage. This is a game between one of the best shooting teams and one of the worst. The Golden Knights are the leaders in overall shooting percentage with 15.13% of all shots on goal. Meanwhile, the Oilers are second to last in this statistic, shooting just 7.14% of their shots on goal, which is 7.99% worse than Edmonton.

I'll jump over the Golden Knights at plus money.

Selection: Golden Knights +100
