In the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich played in a frenzy after slight initial difficulties at VfL Bochum and maintained their lead in the table with a 5-0 (2-0).

Julian Tilders

Two standard situations opened the door for Munich on Sunday. Michael Oliseh (16th) converted a free kick directly, a little later Jamal Musiala (26th) headed a free kick from Joshua Kimmich into the net. Harry Kane (57th), Leroy Sané (65th) and Kingsley Coman (71st) also scored for Bayern.

Bayern Munich now has 20 points and maintains the top of the table against Leipzig, who have the same number of points. For Bochum, however, things look bleaker, with VfL remaining at the bottom of the Bundesliga with just one point.

Broschinski narrowly missed the surprise lead

Bayern appropriately dominated the first half. But in the early stages, VfL sensed an opportunity to annoy the German record champions. Bochum acted energetically and disciplined in defense and had come up with a plan to crack Bayern's defense. The home team tried this pattern: a few quick short passes in the center, then a long ball over the FCB chain.

Attacker Moritz Broschinski, who was sent on by Erhan Masovic in the eighth minute, played a central role. Bayern's central defender Min-jae Kim had to stay on Broschinski's heels – the Bochum player put the ball past the rushing FCB goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, but lost some of the pace. Kim was able to catch up with his opponent in a full sprint and clear the ball just in front of the line.

Bayern Munich dupes VfL with two standards

Bayern were also warned, VfL did well at the front and defended in a disciplined manner at the back during the ongoing game against Munich, who were clearly superior with almost 80 percent possession of the ball. It was all the more bitter for Bochum that the FCB star ensemble simply used two standard situations for the first two goals.

Oliseh flicked a free kick from a central position in front of the penalty area with a very fine blade into the corner to take the lead, no chance for VfL goalkeeper Patrick Drewes. Bochum protested because Konrad Laimer had managed to score after the previous foul on Harry Kane – but referee Florian Exner apparently wasn't enough to give them an advantage; he still gave the free kick.

When Munich made it 2-0, Bochum's defense signaled that it was in a deep sleep. Kimmich carefully picked up the ball, Musiala escaped the scramble and headed the free kick over Drewes into the net – it was FC Bayern's first headed goal of the current Bundesliga season. The break also begins with a comfortable tour for the guests.

Sané and Coman outdo each other with dream goals

And this tour should become much more comfortable. The start of the second half was rather disjointed, but Bochum again did their best to disrupt the game. But not much came out of the game, the highest feeling was a direct free kick from Maximilian Wittek, which Neuer parried (54th).

After this somewhat arduous phase, Bayern finally set off a big offensive fireworks display. Coman initially only scored from an offside position (55'), but Kane was then served by Musiala and heaved the ball into the corner to make it 3-0. Bayern coach Vincent Kompany then changed, bringing in Thomas Müller, Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sané.

The latter scored the fourth goal after a strong solo shot from the right, before Coman followed suit from the other side. He also took measurements on the inside, Drewes had no chance again. FCB's first three shots on goal after the break all hit the net. Drewes ended this series, saving in dire need against Mathys Tel (82nd). In the end it was 5-0 for FCB.
