Arkansas honored in preseason polls, Davis and Aidoo

FAYETTEVILLE – The Associated Press and the SEC today announced their preseason polls for the 2024-25 basketball season. The Razorbacks are ranked 16th in the AP poll and were picked fourth by the SEC media. The SEC also announced its All-SEC preseason teams, with Jonas Aidoo and Johnell Davis named the All-SEC preseason second team by the league's media.

Teams ranked on the Razorback schedule in the AP Poll include #1 Kansas (Charity Exhibition), #2 Alabama, #8 Baylor. #11 Auburn. No. 12 Tennessee, No. 13 Texas A&M. #19 Texas, #21 Florida, #23 Kentucky and #24 Ole Miss with the following votes: Illinois (#26), Michigan (#34), Miami (#38), Mississippi State (#43) and Little Rock (#49 ).

Last season Aidoo was:

  • 2024 NABC Second Team All-District
  • 2024 First Team All-SEC (AP)
  • 2024 Second Team All-SEC (Coach)
  • 2024 SEC All-Defensive Team
  • SEC Academic Honor Roll for Winter 2022-23
  • 2021-22 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll

Aidoo was just the fifth Tennessee player to be named to the SEC's All-Defensive Team and was one of two Volunteers to start all 36 games last season. He ranked third in the SEC in blocked shots (1.83 average and 66 total), fourth in rebounds per game (7.3), fourth in total rebounds (263) and fourth Ranked in offensive rebounds per game (2.78).

Last season, Davis was:

  • 2024 NABC All-District 24 first team
  • AAC Teammate of the Year 2024
  • 2024 All-AAC first team (unanimous)
  • 2023 NABC All-District 17 first team
  • 2023 Conference USA Sixth Player of the Year
  • 2022-23 All-C-USA first team
  • 2023 C-USA All-Tournament Team

Davis was a 2023-24 top 10 finalist for the Jerry West Award as well as a top 20 finalist for the Wooden Award. He ranked in the top 15 in the AAC in free throw percentage (2nd, 85.7%); rating (4th, average 18.2); field goal percentage (4th, 48.3%); Defensive rebounds (9th, 4.88 average); rebounding (11th, 6.3 average); steals (12., 1.44); Assists (13th, 100 total) and double-doubles (13th, 3). Last year, Davis played a key role in Florida Atlantic reaching the Final Four.
