It's Election Day, and while many Hoosiers are heading to their polling places and voting, others are running their usual errands like grocery shopping, mailing packages or going to the bank. But are they open?

Although Election Day is not on the list of federal holidays, it is still observed as a holiday in some states. Many state offices will be closed and 24 states and the District of Columbia are offering paid leave to vote. Other states allow elective leave, but without pay.

Indiana considers both the May primary and November general elections as state holidays. Here's what Hoosiers should know about what's open and closed on Election Day.

Are banks open on election day?

Bank of America, Truist, PNC, Capital One, Wells Fargo and other bank branches will be open during their regular hours on Tuesday, November 5th. Other banking services such as ATMs and online banking should also be available to choose from as usual.

Yes, post offices will be open and mail will be delivered on Tuesday as Election Day is not a federal holiday.
