ROCHESTER, NY (WHAM) – Get ready for more big temperature swings over the next few days.

The temperature has been slightly cooler than normal in Rochester over the past few days. We had five days in a row with high temperatures of over 50 degrees.

It looks like this trend will reverse in the next few days. In fact, we could see near-record warm temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

Here's a look at how the weather story will unfold through the end of the week.

A warm front will approach the region Tuesday afternoon and early Tuesday evening.

The front will bring some showers. A rumble of thunder is even possible on Tuesday afternoon. Any showers will clear quickly by mid to late evening tomorrow.

As this front moves through WNY tomorrow evening, the temperature will rise quickly. Here's a look at the forecast high temperatures over the next few days.

Wednesday's record high temperature is 78 degrees, set in 1946. The record high temperature for Halloween this Thursday is 80 degrees, set in 1971. We will be close to record temperatures on both days.

The first outlook for our little ghouls and ghosts will be temperatures around 70 degrees on Thursday evening around 6 p.m. The chance of a rain shower will slowly increase for trick-or-treaters through Thursday evening.

The rain will mark another change in the weather as a cold front pushes through WNY. It looks like this warm-up will end on Friday.

We will see that the temperature drops significantly again. Expect high temperatures in the 50s Friday and Saturday.

In case you're curious, the long-term temperature forecast into November remains above normal temperatures in the Great Lakes and New England. Here's a look at the 8- to 14-day temperature outlook from the Climate Prediction Center (CPC).
