Firefighters made further progress Monday at a Morris County wildfire in Rockaway Township, authorities said.

The Microwave Wildfire is now 85% contained and has affected 77 acres after three days, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service posted on social media Monday evening. This is an improvement from Sunday evening's 70 percent containment.

There are now only three structures under threat, down from the 13 that were threatened at the time of Sunday's update.

Jacobs Road in Rockaway remains closed, the agency said. No evacuations were ordered.

The fire remains under investigation.

The lack of rainfall has made New Jersey vulnerable to wildfires. The current fire danger in the state remains “very high,” according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service website.

On Thursday, the state issued a drought warning after three months of below-average rainfall. The Murphy government is urging residents and businesses to voluntarily conserve water.

There is no relief in sight for the state as no rain is forecast in the Rockaway region over the next seven days, the National Weather Service said.
