There have been many low points for the New York Jets over the years. The butt fumble and Bill Belichick's departure to the rival New England Patriots stand out, although everything deserves attention after the team's Super Bowl III upset of the Baltimore Colts in 1969.

But while quarterback Aaron Rodgers fell to 2-5 in Sunday night's 37-15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, he found a new way to express the embarrassment of Jets fans.

“The Jets season is going up in flames and Aaron Rodgers is eating his boogers on the sidelines,” one fan wrote on social media after NBC cameras caught the four-time MVP doing just that.

Sunday night was bad enough for Rodgers, who was reunited with his former Packers teammate Davante Adams, only to have the All-Pro receiver hit just three of nine targets. And then there were Rodgers' two interceptions that night, which only gave fans online more ammunition.

One fan referenced the footage of Rodgers grooming his nostrils, noting it was his “third pick of the game.”

Was it a pimple or a scratch? And why was Aaron Rodgers playing with his index finger around his mouth?

Others preferred to attack Rodgers for proudly refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

“Vaccinated?” I wrote one.

“Ivermectin side effects,” explained another.

Finally, one fan simply chided Rodgers for consuming empty calories.

“Yikes,” he wrote. “They have no nutritional value.”

Things went so badly for Rodgers that fans began to long for Zach Wilson, the former first-round pick who failed with the Jets before reemerging as a backup in Denver this year. A year ago, when Wilson filled in for the injured Rodgers, the Jets were 4-3. Now it's just 2-5 and the fans are preparing for another rebuild.

“Someone needs to vaccinate America from having to constantly watch this washed up conspiracy hound, fake QB and his horse transgressions on national television,” wrote longtime NFL columnist Jason La Canfora on X.

“I wish I was immune to their trash crimes.” Is there a chance of that? Who will Rodgers blame for this shit show?'

Afterward, Rodgers criticized the media for doubting the Jets.

Asked how to keep the faith alive in the team's locker room, Rodgers said players need to “stop listening to you, number one.”

Rodgers added: “From this week onwards I just have to win.”

The Jets travel to Foxborough on Sunday to face the 1-6 Patriots – the only team below New York in the AFC East standings. Rodgers and the Jets previously dominated the Patriots 24-3 on Sept. 19 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
