According to ESPN, the Los Angeles Lakers will send guard Bronny James to their G-League affiliate starting Saturday.

According to the report, James will join the South Bay Lakers after remaining with the NBA's Lakers during Friday's game. After joining the G-League Lakers, James is scheduled to only appear in home games as he splits his time between the two teams.

James, the son of superstar LeBron James, was selected in the second round of the NBA draft in July and has only appeared in four NBA games for the Lakers so far this season. In a total of 13 minutes, the younger James recorded four points, two assists and one rebound. He made just one of his six field goal attempts.

Bronny and LeBron played together in the first game of the season in Los Angeles, appearing next to each other for three minutes in the win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. They were the first father-son duo to play together in this game in NBA history, but have not appeared on the floor together since.

Bronny, 20, played one year at USC before being drafted by the Lakers with the 55th pick in the 2024 draft.

After a 3-0 start, Los Angeles has lost four of its last five games – all on the road – and is now 4-4. In a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, LeBron, who turns 40 in December, scored a season-high 39 points.

The Lakers face the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday.
