Mark Cuban congratulates Trump – and Elon Musk – on winning the White House before the race begins

  • Mark Cuban, a key Kamala Harris surrogate, congratulated Donald Trump before the race was called.

  • At the time, Trump was on the verge of taking Pennsylvania, which was seen as an unconditional victory for Harris.

  • Cuban also congratulated Elon Musk – a major Trump donor and staunch GOP supporter in this election.

Vote counting was still underway early Wednesday, but Mark Cuban, a key campaign official for Vice President Kamala Harris, has tipped the race for her opponent, former President Donald Trump.

“You won fair and square,” Cuban wrote on X on Wednesday morning. “Congratulations also to @elonmusk. #Godspeed.”

The Cuban initially supported President Joe Biden's re-election campaign. He shifted his support to Harris after she became the Democratic nominee.

The “Shark Tank” star campaigned heavily for Harris, appearing at rallies in battleground states like Arizona, Michigan and Wisconsin.

Cuban wasn't the only one who expected Trump to return to the White House.

In an X post on Wednesday, Elon Musk, one of Trump's most vocal supporters, said the former president had been given a “crystal clear mandate for change.”

When Cuban published his post, US news outlets had not yet decided the race, but Trump was clearly the favorite to win the White House, with victories in two key battleground states and leads in others.

Cedric Richmond, co-chair of the Harris-Walz campaign, said around 1 a.m. ET that Harris would not address her supporters until later Wednesday morning at Howard University, where her campaign was hosting a watch party.

“We still have votes to count,” he said. “We still have states that haven’t been called yet. We will continue to fight overnight to ensure that every vote is counted, that every voice has spoken.”

Representatives for the Cuban and Harris campaigns did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
