Voters decide abortion issue in Nebraska

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Nebraskans did their part to turn the U.S. Senate red Tuesday, keeping both Republican incumbents in office.

Nebraska's senior senator experienced a very close race in the electoral votes Deb Fischer And Dan Osborn Neck and nape for much of the night. She eventually took the lead and won.

Nebraska voters sent the U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts back to Washington DC for the next two years; The race was decided in his favor early Tuesday evening.

Nebraska's 2nd Congressional District rematch between Republicans Don Bacon and democrat Tony Vargas It was also a tough competition throughout the evening. With only a few thousand votes left to count, it could go either way; But previous voting trends in areas yet to be counted led Bacon to a victory in 2022.

Former President Trump Iowa won despite controversial poll results that fell over the weekend and suggested the state could go to Harris. He also maintained the lead in District 1, winning just after midnight. and solidly held District 3. Vice President Harris won District 2. Each district awards a single electoral vote in Nebraska.

Nebraskans also voted to eliminate school vouchers but kept existing state restrictions on abortion; There will be no detailed analysis of the overall numbers to determine which of the two opposing abortion measures prevails. Meanwhile, the two medical marijuana measures passed easily, although their appearance on the ballot alone continues to make its way through the courts.
