Former President Donald Trump is preparing to speak to supporters at a campaign party, but his opponent, Vice President Kamala, will not address the crowd gathered at her campaign headquarters.

Harris campaign co-chair Cedric Richmond announced just before 1 a.m. ET that the Democratic candidate would not be speaking at Howard University (HU) as expected.

“We still have to count votes. We still have states that have not yet been called. We will continue to fight overnight to make sure every vote is counted, that every voice has spoken,” Richmond told those gathered at Harris’ home. Alma Mater on Tuesday. “So you won't hear from the vice president tonight, but you will hear from her tomorrow. She will be here again tomorrow to address not only the HU family, not only her supporters, but also the nation.”

The participants were then asked to go to the exits.

The update came shortly after the networks called Georgia, one of the seven key battlegrounds for Trump. The former president was also declared the winner of North Carolina earlier in the evening. With 246 electoral votes as of 1 a.m. ET, Trump still needs 24 electoral votes to secure the presidency. Harris currently has 187 electoral votes.

Shortly after Georgia was called, Trump left Mar-a-Lago to address his supporters at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. He is reportedly traveling there with his family and senior campaign leadership team.

Before Trump took the stage, Fox News called Pennsylvania for Trump, giving him three electoral votes short of the 270 needed to win the presidency. Hundreds of supporters cheered in the convention center as the call was made.

David Axelrod, a former Obama adviser, said on CNN before the Keystone State call: “Part of democracy is honoring the will of the people. To honor their institutions. I imagine the vice president will do that.”

In Washington, DC, Harris supporters were seen leaving the wake party in Howard in tears. Although the night started jubilantly, the mood soured in the final hours of the night as the results continued to come in – and not in Harris's favor.

Harris' absence from her own campaign party reminded observers of the 2016 election, when Democrat Hillary Clinton decided not to speak at her party at New York's Javits Center after it was clear that Trump would win.

Although Trump still needs three electoral votes to enter the White House, Harris' victory in Pennsylvania will no longer have a path to the presidency.
