Minnesota election results: Brad Finstad wins re-election in CD1

Incumbent Republican Brad Finstad has won re-election in Minnesota's 1st Congressional District, The Associated Press announced.

Finstad, a native of Neu-Ulm, was running for his second full term. He served as state director for USDA Rural Development during President Donald Trump's administration, won a special election in August 2022 to fill the seat of the late Republican Rep. Jim Hagedorn and won a full term in November.

His Democratic opponent was Rachel Bohman, a Rochester native who previously served as Hennepin County elections director.

The Associated Press declared Finstad the winner at 10:42 p.m

Who is Brad Finstad?

During his term, Finstad served on the Agriculture Committee and three related subcommittees, of which he was the chairman. He also served on the Armed Services Committee and two related subcommittees.

The representative served on four congressional committees, including the Republican Study Committee, the Main Street Caucus, the Congressional Western Caucus and the Congressional Biofuels Caucus.

Finstad's top campaign issues include agriculture, armed forces, economy, education, energy, health and veterans' affairs, according to his campaign website.

Who is Rachel Bohman?

Bohman worked as elections director for Hennepin County before returning to Rochester, where she served as an assistant district attorney and was elected to the Rochester Township Board.

Her campaign focused on health issues, supporting local businesses, agriculture, environmental concerns, immigration, public safety, reducing the cost of essential goods and women's reproductive rights.
